1st PMTLAI General Membership Meeting & Induction of New Board of Directors – August 19, 2022 at Casa Ibarra, Pasay City

On August 19, 2022, PMTLAI hosted the first face to face General Membership Meeting and Induction of New Board of Directors and New Members in two years. The event was held in Casa Ibarra along MOA Complex, Pasay City. The event was attended by more than 100 members, past officers, and board of directors, distinguished guests and friends from the Airlines, Shipping Lines, warehouse operators and various Government Offices such as Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Atty. Frank Edward G. Marty, Civil Aeronautics Board Representative Atty. Maria Cecillia Paguirigan, and Bureau of Customs Deputy Commissioner of Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group, Atty. Edward James A. Dy Buco.

Guests from the Airlines who were able to attend included Turkish Cargo, United Airlines Cargo, Cebu Air Inc., Kuwait Airways Group, Jupiter Logistics Co. Inc., and Philippine Airlines.

Last but not least, the guest of honor was Undersecretary Elmer Francisco U. Sarmiento from the Department of Transportation who delivered an inspiring opening speech on the role the private and government sectors had to play in working together to improve and develop our industry. Usec. Sarmiento also recounted his experience in the multimodal transport industry and how he relates to the challenges we face today.

One of the best parts of the Program was the report of outgoing President Ms. Marilyn Alberto. She presented the many projects and accomplishments she and her Board were able to achieve during her term from 2018 to 2022. These projects allowed our members avenues for knowledge sharing as well as being proponents in various government projects with regard to logistics and transportation. These achievements were made even more impressive by the fact that several of them were implemented during the height of the COVID epidemic.

The event was sponsored by Container Ledger Account Philippines and InterCommerce Network Services.

CLA Philippines discussed their alternative solution to the container deposit issue. They were represented by Ms. Elain Kan. Ms. Kan explained the simple procedure of using their website as well as the benefits it provides compared to the status quo. For more details you can visit their website and presentation link below.

InterCommerce was also a sponsor to the event, and they sent one of their partners, represented by Mr. Simon Lai. Mr. Lai described a new web-based solution for forwarders and how to track their transactions as well as shipments. More details are linked below.

Furthermore, eighteen (18) new members were inducted in PMTLAI (list below). Strengthening our roster as well as adding new contributors in the improvement of the Logistics Industry in the Philippines.

Overall, it was an enjoyable event that allowed old friends and colleagues to meet again after two years of quarantine from the virus. The number of attendees showed that our members are more than ready to reject the fear from the pandemic and to get back to normal.
